The other three colors (red, green, silver) have arrived and are now shipping. Both sizes are available 13.5 inch and 15 inch steering wheels.
So what’s new about these metal flake steering wheels? For starters, a difference you can see! Mooneyes California Metal Flake Steering Wheels are completely, all newly tooled and made from the ground up.

On Father’s Day weekend, it was an excellent example of a classic Southern California weekend with SO-CAL Speed Shop’s Open House, The annual LA Roadster Show and Swap Meet, hot rods, customs and MOONEYES. Shige Suganuma posted photos on his blog about it and here it reposted in English. Enjoy!

Uploaded a second video featuring a light version how to install Port-O-Walls on automotive tires. This would be slightly difficult to do without the use of a machine, in this case the tire mounter thinga-mabopper. But, it also gives you a visual as to how it’s done so that you can explain it to “the tire guy” if you have to bring the Port-O-Wall to your nearest garage. We have received several emails in the past where a customer said the garage had never installed a Port-O-Walls before and/or looked at the customer confused, like, “Yous wanna do whuh? Tollets round thu coner.” (of course, maybe taking it to a different garage would be a better idea…)
So here it is, Port-O-Wall, white ribbon, white wall topper, installation how to video for Autos. We use a early wide-5 VW wheel and tire to mount this Port-O-Wall. Fairly simple to do, especially with the machine. White Walls and White Ribbon Skinny

Counterfeit MOONEYES T-shirts Manufacturer in Thailand Raided
SANTA FE SPRINGS, California (July 2, 2010) – Earlier this year, MOONEYES received a report from a MOONEYES International Special Tasks (MIST) associate detailing a counterfeit manufacturer operating in Thailand. This group had produced, in significant quantities, various t-shirt designs which included a large number of MOONEYES designs. MOON of Japan, Inc. and MOONEYES USA, Inc. holds many exclusive registered trademarks and copyrights around the world and immediately took action to stop the counterfeit products being distributed.
After more information was gathered and proper documentation was obtained, MIST associates accompanied the Thailand police as they conducted a raid on the counterfeit leader’s store on June 11, 2010. The store was located on the ground floor of a major building near the capital city of Bangkok. The shopkeeper was taken into custody and the store raid turned up over 500 T-shirts bearing counterfeit MOONEYES trademarks. MIST associates will continue to monitor this situation closely as they do constantly all over the world.
“This is only a small portion of what was produced,” said Shige Suganuma, owner of MOONEYES. “The counterfeit t-shirts were initially produced and shipped in bulk to Europe and the manufacturer continued to produce those designs and selling them directly from his store.”
The designs were based on direct copies from authentic t-shirts made by MOONEYES. A large number of designs are made and sold in Japan by MOON of Japan, Inc. Information obtained from the shopkeeper indicated a customer from Japan brought sample t-shirts and asked for them to be duplicated. The designs are almost identical and can be difficult to tell them apart. The best way to determine the counterfeit t-shirt is by looking at the inside collar. Authentic t-shirts from MOONEYES have a label/tag where the counterfeit shirts have no tags and print the size on the material. For reference, photos are shown below.
If you see this printed on the inside, sorry, it is fake.
Any counterfeit products, bootlegs, pirate copies, etc. are a great concern for everyone, businesses and consumers alike. MOONEYES felt it was important to make this release public to bring awareness to this matter. Hundreds, if not thousands, of t-shirts have been distributed and might be at your local shop. So be on the lookout for counterfeit t-shirts and be sure you are always purchasing authentic MOONEYES products. There’s only one MOONEYES. Go with MOON!

Last weekend was the first time in about 5 years that we got to Drive the MOONEYES Dragster!! It’s been 3 years since it got a completely new chassis and finally, we got to run it.
We ran it at the Barona Drag Strip near the San Diego area for an event Mooneyes was invited to. They said we could run under one condition, “As long as you don’t run it seriously hard, then it’s OK.” So we got to make a couple passes.
Along with the brand new chassis built in 2007 by original Dragmaster Chassis founder Dode Martin and Jim Nelsen, the MOONEYES Dragster has a new clutch, brand new drag slicks, and lastly we made the change from pump-gas to alcohol fuel. With this new setup and our first official run, the results were not what we wanted, unfortunately but still exciting.
The initial plan was to simply smoke the tires real good but that didn’t happen as both times we ran, the front wheels came up (wheel stand).
Until I personally was able to drive the MOONEYES Dragster, I had always thought about what could happen. Will I hit something? How will it perform? How will I handle the run? The consequences. One can only pile on experience with driving.
The MOONEYES Dragster was built in 2007, faithfully to the same specifications as the original MOONEYES Dragster built in early 60s. The result, unfortunately, is the safety equipment on that Dragster doesn’t meet the current safety rules and that usually means it doesn’t pass inspection and I cannot run the Dragster on that track.
One of the current (2010) safety rules set by NHRA is an 8-point roll cage and the Dragster doesn’t pass. About 45 years ago, a simple hoop was enough and interestingly enough, Dean Moon insisted on the double-hoop which in old photographs is usually only seen on the MOONEYES Dragster.
However, I am grateful and really appreciate the Barona Drag Strip staff allowing us to drive the MOONEYES Dragster last weekend. Thank you very much!
