Master of Camshafts, Bill Jenks Remembered

There was a Memorial last weekend at MOONEYES USA for Master of Camshaft, Bill Jenks, who passed away on October 3, 2009.

About 60 people, family and friends came together to reflect and remember Bill, in a place that everyone would agree that Bill would want to be, inside the Machine Shop.

Even after Bill retired, every morning he would show his face at the Shop, comb through the orders and make sure the Machine Shop was in order and running properly. Up until literally the very end, Bill thought about the company, work, and above all MOON. He was a very important person to all of us.

On this day at the Machine Shop, we gathered to reminisce about Bill and chat over lunch and everyone stayed for a long time talking about old times. When Bill’s Family was leaving, a Blue Paint/White Interior Deuce Roadster pulled into the Parking Lot.

Purely by chance, it was just like the Deuce Roadster that Bill used to drive. Same style, same color, same interior color, it was an unreal feeling. Dean MOON, Fred Larsen and Bill Jenks, they were the original builders of MOON and created the solid foundation that MOON stands on. There’s no question that we must keep it moving forward.

In 1949, he started working at Potvin Cams over 60 years ago, after Dean MOON bought the company Potvin Cams, Bill came to work for MOON in 1962 and for the next 49 years until he was 79, he was a vital part of the Hot Rod Industry. Thank you for everything Bill.

With his busy schedule, Nash still managed to come. Thank you.
He also posted this on his Blog.
