When Dean Moon first began MOON Equipment Company in the 50s, his products were made right here in Santa Fe Springs, California – on the same property where MOONEYES is located today. The MOONEYES product line has grown and expanded ever since. Today, not everything is produced in-house (that’s obvious) however, select MOON products are still made in our machine shop. Following Dean Moon’s traditional values, specifications in quality and craftsmanship, these items are proudly made in the USA. There’s just no compromise.
The MOONEYES USA Machine Shop was featured before but on a recent shop tour, we took some updated photos – and managed to sneak a few rare photos Bill in action too!
Inside the MOONEYES USA Machine Shop. The machines that are used are all old, I mean vintage. There are no computers connected or running the machines. The newest technology being used right now in the Machine Shop is the push-button telephone!

Of course, every grind he executes is a freehand masterpiece.

All sorts of name plates are filed here for finished products.

This is the spinning machine which is used to make MOON Discs and MOON Tanks. Right now, the machine is setup with a metal mold for making MOON Discs and the rods and dies are used for shaping.
The two long machines are engine lathes and one we use to Sun Ray tank bodies and camshaft truing. The other one is used to machine parts such as bungs.
The two against the wall are bridge port milling machines. It’s like a drill press, but with more functions and angles to drill or cut.
On this day, a pinstriper from Finland named Pekka stopped by for visit. Dean MOON Jr. gave him the shop tour. Whenever you visit the Mooneyes USA and you are interested in the shop, please ask one of the staff for a tour. We are more than happy to show you around.
