This years Grand National Roadster Show held at the Pomona Fairplex on Jan 26-28 featured as usual some of the finest hot rods, customs and motorcycles found anywhere. However, new this year was Hot Rod’s 1st annual pinstripers reunion which attracted new and old sign painters and pinstripers alike for a great get together where artists painted original art pieces donated to a live art auction in which proceeds went to a local charity.

Our Pinstriper Moon Pinstripe artist, "Wildman" (nicknamed by Roth) flew in from Moon of Japan to also take part in this event. His contribution included this black leather vest that he put some serious effort into. As you can see by the pics it was a very nice piece of work. As a matter of fact it turned out to be the highest bidded on item at the auction going to one lucky bidder for $1000 bucks. Woot! Also joining the fun was Jimmy C our favorite local sign painter and of course Dena whose always a big help at these art auctions. If your new to this kind of event do not be initmidated by some of the prices that these art pieces go for. In this kind of auction you can really get a deal on an original piece of art that a young aspiring up and coming artist has created. It’s great to be able to meet these artists and see the passion they put into their artwork. Every artist has his own unique style and thats what makes it special.

This kind of get together is something special and we are thankful to participate in it’s beginnings.
Thanks to Hot Rod for arranging this and keeping pinstriping alive!

Pinstriping itself has seemed too grow even more with interest from new comers. The movement seems to be evident worldwide as artists from Europe, Japan, and USA are visiting each others car shows exchanging styles and techniques. Books and videos are just now becoming available again showing the "how to" and also the tools of the trade.
Herb Martinez, a long time famous pinstriper has recently come out with a book that is called
"The Guide to Pinstriping" available now for purchase. Other beginning artists on this subject can now purchase art supplies at the Mooneyes Store such as the "Moon Pinstripe Starter Kit".
