Saturday, July 19, 2008 - MOONEYES Open House

Saturday (July 19th) was the MOONEYES Open House and BBQ. In the past, it has always been held a day before the Pomona Swap Meet but this year there were scheduling conflicts and the result was a full week after. On that same day there were several other happenings taking place too so it may have been difficult for some people to make it. However, looking back now, there were more people that stopped by than previous years!

We truly appreciate everyone that made a trip out to Mooneyes in Santa Fe Springs. In these current times of higher gas prices and tighter self-priorities, we are grateful you chose to stopped by. Here are some photos and comments of the day, starting from the early morning hours (7AM) to the evening when the day was over. Thank you very much.

MOONEYES

During the day, the temperature really climbed but all in all a beautiful California day.

The Mooneyes Open House had all kinds of things going on. Boxes of miscellaneous items were outside in a garage sale fashion at bargain prices. All of the in-store merchandise and items were also on sale and had no sales tax just for the day too. Plus, there were free soft drinks and over 240 of Chico's infamous free hamburgers on the grille (they went fast too). Artist Keith Weesner had a booth setup as well as a few other vendors too and the band Hot Rod Trio was playing as well.

Keith Weesner had his booth up selling cool art work!
The Mooneyes Machine Shop was open to the public and allowed anyone interested to come in and have a look around the inner workings of the shop.

During this time of the year in Southern California, the mornings are often cloudy but on the day of the Open House, it was clear and there was a breeze of cool air. However, by noon the sun was high in the sky and the temperature rose and reminded us that it was summer.

Nothing beats a little Nitro firing up for the crowd! Gotta love those altereds!

There were a lot of cool bikes too! Stock, vintage, custom, hot rods, you name it.

Just after 12 noon was the opening of "Chico's Burger Shop"

The hamburgers that were prepared earlier as we attempted to get a head start, didn't last and were just about gone within an hour. Over 240 patties!

Some of the cool hot rods and customs.

Throughout the day, there were all kinds of cars and bikes coming through Norwalk Blvd.

By 3PM the live band, Hot Rod Trio, finished up playing and people started heading home. Soon after, Norwalk Blvd was returned by to normal again.

The next MOONEYES USA event is December 13, 2008 (Saturday) - it's the MOONEYES X'MAS PARTY at Irwindale Speedway in California.

Just 6 days before the X'mas party is the Yokohama Hot Rod/Custom Show on December 7, 2008 (Sunday) too.

Please be sure you mark the days down in your calendar!
